Gold Level Clean Regattas Certification

We are are proud to announce that we have receive Gold Level Certification Clean Regattas in our annual Youth Regatta held on the 15th – 16th June 2019. This comes after we have made tremendous strides in delivering a clean regatta through numerous best sustainable practices.

our objectives ; resource  efficiency , education and outreach, and marine environment we reached through this initiative.

  • Over 80 young sailors and Green Team participated on the Marina Clean.
  • Over 200 kg of plastic waste was collected at sea.
  • Participants, spectators and visitors were only allowed to make use of the recyclable or rather Eco- friendly packaging material during the course of the event.
  • Our marina was being monitored to ensure that there’s no oil spill or any harmful element that can endanger the marine life.
  • The Seamanship Trophy  made with waste material was awarded to team Escape (Skippered by Renaldo Mohale) for collecting most plastic waste at sea.
  • Escape crew comprises of RCYC academy sailors and are all under 20 years old.
  • Educational talk was delivered by the #seathebiggerpicture chairman Chris Krauss with strong emphasis on reducing single use plastic, more importantly encouraging youth to take care of the environment.
